Smart, Pretty & Awkward

How to be Smarter: This is a funny article (literally, it’s written very cleverly) about how to use humor in business. The whole article is packed with great tips, but I love this nugget: “One of the more surprising and effective places for humor is around the negotiations table, where humor can make you more persuasive. In a study by researchers Karen O’Quinn and Joel Aronoff, participants negotiated on the purchase price of a piece of art. When the sellers concluded their final offer with the humorous line “…and I’ll throw in my pet frog,” participants in the study granted 18% more concessions than in the control condition, thereby demonstrating that you should not run a psych study with 10-year-old boys.”

How to be Prettier: Looking for a v-neck maxi dress with sleeves and pockets, under 30 dollars? This one is perfect. I own it in both floral-03 and black.

How to be (less) Awkward: How to respond to an insult. My favorite advice here? First, take a pause. (The link also has awesome vintage footage of Steve Jobs).

Very useful links. I once read that being polite is the best way to respond to an insult. It floors the person insulted you. So, when someone insult me on socials I ignore him/her or answer “oh thanks, I’ll take it as a compliment”. I once got called “pig” by a girl who wanted to insult me and I replied “Oh I love pigs, they’re such cute animals”
