How to be Smarter: There is not a minimum requirement on how many people you need to impact to be valuable. Positively changing the world for one person is still positively changing the world.

How to be Prettier: An SP&A Exclusive Discount Code: With the promo code “SPA15”, you can get 15% off your purchase at online boutique August Wrinkle. I really like the Come Fly with Me Dress for a summer night out, and I also love the Mrs. Johnson skirt. (Coupon expires August 31).

How to be (less) Awkward: It is so much easier to relax in a clean home. (One of my favorite playlists to clean to is actually a running playlist).

How to be Smarter: How the People Around You Affect You.

How to be Prettier: If you are an 8 on your hair happiness level and looking for the 10, smaller changes, like a trim or subtle highlights, are usually the way to go, rather than more drastic measures like color or length changes. A total revamp is only necessary if you start below a 5 on the hair happiness scale.

How to be (less) Awkward:  It always makes me smile whenever someone I don’t know exits the elevator and calls out over their shoulder “have a good day!” It’s an easy gesture to do that makes starting the day that much friendlier for a stranger.

P.S. I was thrilled to be interviewed by 9 Lives for Women, a great resource for women in all stages of their career.

How to be Smarter: The Rory Gilmore Reading Challenge. [This is awesome, especially if you were/are a fan of Gilmore Girls].

How to be Prettier: How-to dress for cold offices. [Love #3].

How to be (less) Awkward: When traveling on a train or a plane with an armrest, put the armrest down as soon as you get to your seat. It can feel unfriendly to put it down mid-trip after you’ve been sitting next to a stranger for a while; doing it right after you sit down ensures you will have your own space for the trip without looking like you are offended by the other passenger.

How to be Smarter: Ways to be a Good Daughter. [Love #5].

How to be Prettier: 20 Small Actions to Create a Fit Environment. [Love #15].

How to be (less) Awkward: When feelings get hurt or slighted, it’s important to remind yourself that you probably don’t know the whole story. What you interpret as rude or thoughtless could simply be a consequence of something that has nothing to do with you, and/or that happened years ago.

How to be Smarter: On the first page of each new notebook I start, I write down a quote that inspires me around the theme of the notebook (whether the notebook is for to-do lists, for school/work, or just for creative ideas).

How to be Prettier: An SP&A Exclusive Discount Code: With the promo code “smartprettyawkward10off”, you can get 10% off your purchase at online boutique Shabby Apple. I have my eye on the Metropolitan Blouse and the Humboldt Current Skirt, and I love the special section just for Redheads. (Coupon expires August 9).

How to be (less) Awkward: A birthday card is a great opportunity to compliment someone on what you love about their character.
