Molly Ford's
Smart, Pretty & Awkward

How to be Smarter: One of my favorite ways to stay in touch with out-of-state friends is choosing the same book to read, and then having an informal little weekly email chat about the latest chapter (interspersed with updates about our lives).

How to be Prettier: I’ve seen two different girls (in two different states) wearing this dress over the past week, and I was eyeing it each time. I finally came across it by chance in an Urban store this past weekend, and knew it was meant to be (for me, in red).

How to be (less) Awkward: My friends and I had a long email chain discussing this article; for the record, I’m a Molly (both by name and doll choice).

I love this Eleanor Roosevelt quote!

  2. I love the smarter idea! My best friend has recently moved to a different city and part of keeping in touch is telling each other what books we’ve been reading, so at some point I might have to suggest this to her.

Well, for one thing, the “No American Girl Doll” one was right. I still feelobligated to stare resentfully at the six year olds clutching $120 toys whenever I go in the Dallas “AG Place”.

  4. Tish says:

Just passed the AG article around to MY friends!

  5. Bre says:

I love that quote, and it certainly applies to our relationships. Great smarter idea, it reminds me to get my friends and I’s book club back up and running! P.S. Cute dress!

  6. Chris says:

Love the American Girl bit! Like many others my parents refused to buy me such an expensive doll and I am proud to say that most of the qualities listed apply to me; doesn’t mean I’m not jealous when I meet a little girl with one tho. Glad I just read the books and used my imagination instead of wasting money :)

  7. Cammie says:

I like the dress in blue!

  8. Molly says:

I was a Molly too; Love my/our name!

  9. Another Molly says:

I posted the AG article to my facebook – I’m a Molly and I had Molly, too!! I loved that it’s the only one that assumes a significant portion of its owners were also named Molly. Best name ever for sure.

  10. Sharon says:

I have that dress in red. It’s made out of a really nice material. Perfect for summer time! :)

  11. Katie says:

I actually went through every single comment on that AG article.. Even though it seemed to be pages and pages! Females of a certain age and their American Girl dolls.. :)
I wonder if they are anywhere near as popular as they were when we were kids.

  12. Courtney says:

What about the make-your-own American Girl Dolls??

  13. Lizzie says:

Aw. I had Kit. What does that make me, other than slightly on the young end of the AG generation?
