Smart, Pretty & Awkward

How to be Smarter: There are two kinds of emails you can get: the ones you read, and the ones you delete. There are two kinds of people you can be: a person who people want to pay attention to, and a person people find irrelevant. Don’t let yourself become spam in someone else’s life: stay interesting, relevant, and compelling to those you love.

How to be Prettier: Being a trendsetter, a Vogue reader or a daring dresser is not for everyone. Some people don’t follow fashion–and that is fine. You don’t have to be fashion-forward; it’s okay to just be fashion-friendly. Fashion-friendly is about enjoying shopping for pieces you like that flatter your body. If you don’t have the time or interest in being fashion-forward, don’t let anyone make you feel like that’s a bad thing.

How to be (less) Awkward: A very smartly-written television series I highly recommend watching about feel out-of-place and fitting in: Freaks and Geeks. One of my favorite shows of all-time.

Love your Prettier! I’ve still never seen Freaks and Geeks but I’ve heard good things. I’ll have to get out and watch. :)

  2. Madeline says:

LOVED Freaks and Geeks. It is amazing how many of those actors went on to have long careers, including Seth Rogan. Oh how I miss that show!!!

LOVE Freaks and Geeks!!! Such a great show with so many current actors/actresses when they were so much younger! (Especially Jason Segel & James Franco.. yum. But also Seth Rogen and Busy Philipps.)

Absolutely love Freaks & Geeks. I fell in love with that show during my sophomore year in high school, and was saddened by the fact that it was canceled.

I read your blog all. the. time. no joke. And I love when I open your page to read the newest post and you have the most uplifting things to say, like today’s “Smarter.” Its simple, and so true. And you usually have a great way to get the message across (like the analogy with junk email). It inspires me to be better every day. So, thanks for reminding me that I have the power to be a little better every day. :)

Freak and Geeks is amazing. Though I hated how it ended.

So this is the one and only blog that I currently (or have ever) followed, so I want to thank you for bringing a smile to my face with every post. In fact, it’s one of my three homepages!

Just wanted to let you know that this has been my favorite post yet. Love everything about it. I posted a link to it on my FB page so all my friends can love it as much as I do. :)

Also, isn’t it funny how the majority of the stars of Freaks & Geeks are all making it big? I remember watching the show when it was on the air and then seeing them in movies later. My favorite was seeing Martin in “Knocked Up”. Seeing Sam on Fox’s “Bones” is pretty funny, too!

  11. Cathy says:

Freaks and Geeks reminds all of us that there are good characteristics inside all of us – even if the packaging is not traditional.

    Love the quote for today!

Your prettier is totally what I live by. I have a couple of siblings that have an obsession with their outer selves. Mind you they are a bother and sister… which makes this interesting, since they both give me a hard time about what I wear. I wear what is comfortable and compliments me. I haven’t the time to worry so much about being fashion-forward as they are, and they think of me as being weird because of it! If I had the time and the money, perhaps I would care a little more, but in my life right now my career is what is most important that getting the seasons must havs
